Make Yourself At Home
This is my 2nd home...I hope to retire here someday and open a B & B. It is in a peaceful, residential neighborhood (with a noise ordinance) that has seen the "renovation creep" during the past few years. We also have a Studio Suite on the back of the premises (with separate entrance/exits) that rents with the house or separately.
While we tell people that it's like going to visit relatives, everything is here (i.e. pots/pans, plates, glasses, kitchen gadgets, grill, etc.), it is really more like having your own private apartment.
The house is 3 stories with 3 queen bedrooms, a double bedroom, a twin and a futon in a common room, and a sofa bed...with 3 1/2 baths--2 have Jacuzzi tubs, the master has a large "soaker" tub (my niece calls it a 'cement pond'...LOL), and a walk in shower with 4 shower heads.
We also provide Sheets, Towels, Soap, Shampoo, etc. so that you will feel right at home.
It is an interesting house. There is an atrium from the kitchen to the 2nd floor, a built-in waterfall in the wall, and a wall-to-wall chalk board in the kid's rooms on the 3rd floor. We have a library of kid's videos. For older kids, we have a variety of games to choose from.
We leave a variety of complimentary foods/beverages (i.e. pantry items, teas, coffee, water, etc.), and we offer continental breakfast foods for an extra fee. It's a very relaxed "homey" atmosphere. You will not have to run out and buy sugar, salt/pepper, etc. In fact, we have a full spice rack for those who like to cook in a "Gourmet Kitchen". You are free to use what you like, and replace what you want.
We have just added a Book It Now feature, so potential guests can book while sitting at their computers. There is a deposit to hold the dates (the first night’s rent) with the balance being due 21 days prior to your arrival. If your request is within 21 days of your stay...the full amount is due. (Note: If someone pays for those dates with the Book It Now feature, those dates are no longer available.)
We may have another option available at that time. The Studio Suite (with a kitchen, bedroom/living room, TV/cable, bath/laundry, private deck, front porch with private entrance) connected to the main house via porches--but completely separate, with a separate calendar.
The Studio Suite has one queen bed for (1 or 2) people. It adds more room for your guests. Rates vary depending on the time of year, but there is no cleaning fee if you are renting both the house and the Apt at the same time. You can see more of the Studio Suite if you select Studio from the home page menu.
Here is some information about our location...
We are between downtown and midtown...there are some restaurants and Cafe's (1--2 blocks), and some of the nicest antique stores (4) with in 2 blocks in either direction. We are close enough to be convenient, but not so close that you have to fight the congestion, and fight for parking. We are on a corner, so there is plenty of free parking. There is a train nearby, but it runs very infrequently.
The house is about 20 minutes from Tybee Island, Forsyth Park is 0.9 miles (about 10 blocks), Kroger is 0.8 miles (about 8 1/2 blocks), Save Alot is 0.3 miles (about 4.5 blocks), and 39 blocks from River St. We walk to River St, and we walk the park everyday. The train station is about 5 miles away. (There is a freight train nearby, but it runs very infrequently.)
If you are going to take a tour, you can park at the Visitor's Center for free. Also, there is a free shuttle around town (the CAT shuttle--maps available online). Some of our guests tells us that the Visitor's Center, and one of the parking garages, offers a city-wide parking pass.
Guests also tell us that the cab fare from the house to River St. is about $5.
There is a Middle Eastern Deli, one block from the house with great gyros and falafels. And one of the best restaurants (Elizabeth's On 37th) is only 3--4 blocks. There is a new restaurant (the Green Truck) 1.5 blocks away that has just been voted as having the best hamburgers in Savannah. Sammy Green's Subs and sandwiches is about 6 blocks away. There is a Grits 'n Gravy breakfast/sandwich shop 2 blocks away.
